Three Things on Our Minds As We Head to NRF Protect 2019

It’s Safe to Say We’re Pretty Excited for NRF Protect 2019

We are living at the edge of a fantastic era of technological advancement. Think about it. Cars are almost driving themselves. Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a Hollywood plot line. And nearly 57% of the world’s population has access to the internet. That’s something like 4.4 billion people who are connecting, communicating, and consuming every day!

These are some of the things on our minds as we get ready to head out to NRF Protect next week. In particular, we’re looking forward to diving deeper into the technologies and techniques in these three areas:

1. Planning for, Preparing Against, and Preventing Rising Threats

Active threat response: Steps toward mitigation | Crisis Consultant Group LLC

We’d love to go back to a time when active shootings were a rare occurrence, but we’re glad interactive sessions like this exist to help us prepare for the worst.

Preparing for the next disaster: An outline for impact mitigation, management, and resiliency | Target, Disney Store North America

While you can’t foresee every threat, you can reduce your risk by being prepared. In our opinion, maintaining the continuity of revenue after disaster strikes is particularly essential.

Panic prevention 101: Situational intelligence to protect your people, assets, and reputation | NC4

Whether you call it intelligence or big data, we’re big fans of using real-time information to empower and protect employees and customers alike. No panic here, just sound planning.

2. Securing Your Merchandise and Customer Data

To be or not to be: Frictionless checkout in retail | Food Marketing Institute, Northgate Gonzalez Market, Acme Markets, Wegmans Food Markets

Of course, we all want to make it easier for customers to make purchases. But the trick is to do so without making it easier for products to walk out the door. That’s where SaaS excels.

Securing online transactions and customer data | Reed Exhibitions, National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA)

Our security systems and techniques are continually evolving. So are the criminals. This session explores how AI can help protect against and even predict data breaches.

Securing an open environment | Southeastern Grocers LLC, GDR Creative Intelligence

We’re excited about this keynote. As a company that spends a lot of time examining trends in the asset protection space, we believe it’s always helpful to compare notes with other experts.

Don’t fumble the handoff: LP implications of BOPIS | Best Buy

To consumers, the buy-online-pickup-in-store option seems simple. We know firsthand how much work goes into making sure disparate systems integrate for a seamless handoff that avoids mistakes and counters fraud.

3. Loss Prevention, Operations, and IT: Advancing Retail Technology Together

On the same team: LP and IT working together to tackle retail crime | The D&D Daily, Dunkin’ Brands Inc., Williams-Sonoma Inc., Jack in the Box Inc.

Collaboration between LP and IT has become more critical than ever. This panel discussion explores how leading retailers are prioritizing, planning, and deploying new technologies…right up our alley!

Technology’s welcomed impact on labor cost | Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC), Wakefern Food Corp.

We’re big believers in the power of technology to enhance your workforce and to create more efficient and engaging customer experiences. We can’t wait to hear how Wakefern is leveraging technology to help Operations and LP to optimize front-end labor.

Mitigating cyber threats: Start with the basics | Books-A-Million Inc., Global Cyber Alliance, Global Resilience Federation

Hackers are always looking for weaknesses in retail POS systems, networks, and payment processors. We’re obsessive about security and look forward to hearing what others are doing as well.
